A Film About Toby
From the opening shot, it seems like we have landed in clichés. But in this case, something strange is happening. The characters come to realize that they are, in fact, trapped in a student film. It’s a place where people talk in strange, expository ways, where events are sequenced by the rules of montage, and where the acts of individuals in the film are circumscribed by the all-too-familiar steps of student filmmaking. What does this mean to the people in the film, and what do we make of it as audiences for such films? This film was 100% student made, and it is a standalone entry.
