Enriching Animal Lives: Inspiring Veterinary Innovation at Studio 231
What starts as an unusual email with the subject “Goat Legs” turns into a heartwarming collaboration between Rowan University’s Studio 231, the veterinary school, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The project centers on creating custom prosthetic legs for Fortunato, a baby goat who lost his hind feet to septic arthritis. Through interdisciplinary teamwork, cutting-edge 3D printing, and countless prototypes, the team crafted a durable, adjustable solution that transformed Fortunato’s life.
This innovative project showcases Rowan's commitment to creative problem-solving, bringing together students, faculty, and diverse fields of expertise. The result? A joyful Fortunato running and hopping outdoors for the first time, proving that Rowan’s hands-on, entrepreneurial approach doesn’t just solve problems—it changes lives.
